Metatarsalgia refers to pain in the sole of the foot (ball of the foot) over the heads of the metatarsal bones.<\/p>\n

Causes of Metatarsalgia<\/h3>\n

Causes of metatarsalgia can include splayfoot or flat feet. Women are more frequently affected than men. The reason for this is wearing high-heeled shoes. Obesity and heavy strain are additional risk factors. <\/p>\n

Surgical Treatment for Metatarsalgia<\/h3>\n

Insoles aim to redistribute pressure and can provide relief. If this is not sufficient, surgery must be considered. The affected bone is surgically shortened by a few millimeters to reduce pressure on the sole of the foot. <\/p>\n

Aftercare for Metatarsalgia<\/h3>\n

During the first 2 weeks after the operation, careful wound and swelling care is provided, after which the sutures are removed. For 6 weeks, you will wear a forefoot relief shoe, which allows you to walk freely.
